The global economic downturn has reduced the number of people who think there are good opportunities to start a business in many parts of the world. A significant minority of would-be entrepreneurs in the wealthier countries see the recession as increasing opportunities for their businesses. Build-a-Company is about to change that. They have a platform to create millions of jobs, founders claim.
- All around the world people are looking to partner up with other people with the same passion as themselves, to build great companies. To get all the right resources onboard, to take the scope to the next level, to accomplish greater things, to complete the puzzle you need a place to find the missing pieces. Build-a-Company helps completing the puzzle by connecting the right people.
Co-founder Jeppe Hansen does not want to hear about recession and tough times. He and his partner have created the platform for entrepreneurs to start a business and minimize their risks. Inside eighteen months the partners came up with more than twenty ideas that they wanted to capitalize on. They worked hard and long on some of the ideas and realized a few of them to some extent. Other ideas were given up fairly quickly.
- All of them had two similarities; they were ideas with massive upsides and they were ideas that all missed partners, as pieces of the puzzles.
Some of the ideas missed e.g. a passionate developer, a sales manager, an investor or a person with a deep understanding of the industry and the same sense of urgency as the founders of Build-a-Company. They were missing a way to connect with the right people, safe in the knowledge that are thousands around the globe with exactly the same barrier preventing them from creating a great company. They were stuck in a small office wondering about how many like-minded people out there were sitting with exactly the same limitations, as the two of them were talking new opportunities. So they came up with Build-a-Company.
In GEM (The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) countries around 1.8% of all people between the age of 18 and 64 have been involved in early-stage entrepreneurial activity. That is almost 32 million people, while the figure globally, including people who think about becoming involved in entrepreneurship, exceeds 500,000,000 people.
- Consider it a dating site for entrepreneurs. You know the right partner is out there among the thousands of members, you just need some help to find each other. This is a paradigm shift in the way companies are being built utilizing the power of social networks, globalization and innovation. This is an enabler to create potentially millions of jobs.
The founders expect their platform to grow to over 50,000 members in 2011 and believe they will reach 200.000 members in the near future.
- We are not the new Facebook, but when people realize that it is much easier to build a company with the right people in a borderless and globalized world, and thousands of jobs and prosperous futures are created from that, anything can happen.
